Dr. Maya Nadimpalli is an Assistant Professor in the Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University. She previously served as a Research Assistant Professor and KL2 Scholar at Tufts University and completed postdoctoral training at the Institut Pasteur and the Pickering Lab at Tufts. Dr. Nadimpalli earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and holds a B.A. & Sc. in Environmental Sciences from McGill University.
Dr. Nadimpalli’s research focuses on the spillover of antibiotic resistance from food animals to humans, particularly in middle-income countries with expanding intensive animal production. Her work investigates the circular transmission of multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae and resistance elements at human–animal interfaces, including the role of wet markets. Her lab’s ongoing research and advocacy for global monitoring of antimicrobial resistance at these interfaces is helping to shape policies and practices aimed at reducing the spread of resistant pathogens globally.
