From farm to flora: How the way we produce food shapes our microbiomes & pathogen risks

3.30pm – 4.15pm EDT, 8 July 2025 ‐ 45 mins

Research Presentations

Dr Maya Nadampalli explores how agricultural practices, food production and market practices (from farm to open-air market)  influence both human and environmental microbiomes, with implications for health, food security, and the emergence of pathogens. Drawing on interdisciplinary research, this talk traces the connections between farming methods, microbial communities, and microbial resistance, highlighting why stewardship must start long before food reaches our plates.
