Dr. Ari Kozik is an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan and Principal Investigator of the Kozik Lab. Her research focuses on how the human microbiome impacts health and disease, particularly in respiratory conditions such as asthma. Dr. Kozik earned her BS in Biotechnology from Calvin College, her PhD in Comparative Pathobiology from Purdue University, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan, with additional training in Personalized and Genomic Medicine at the University of Colorado-Anschutz.
Dr. Kozik’s work spans microbiology, immunology, and bioinformatics, applying multi-omic approaches to study host-microbe interactions and the impact of social and environmental factors on health. She is also a Co-Founder and Vice President of the Black Microbiologists Association and is dedicated to advancing equity, diversity, and public engagement in the sciences.
